At an April 18 continuing education event in Los Angeles, Joni Ogle, Program Director of Promises Young Adult Program, will share her knowledge of co-dependence, and Dr. Jessica Romeyn will examine issues facing young people as they transition into adulthood.

Los Angeles (PRWEB) April 9, 2014 – Issues of co-dependence and young adulthood will be explored April 18 at Promises Treatment Centers’ Annual Spring CEU event, featuring Joni Ogle, LCSW, CSAT, and Education Consultant Jessica Romeyn, Psy.D.

The event takes place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Promises Intensive Outpatient facility in Los Angeles. Participants are eligible for up to two continuing education credits.

Ogle, the Program Director of Promises Young Adult Program, has more than 25 years of clinical experience in addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders, and is a licensed clinical social worker and a certified sex addiction therapist with a master’s degree in social work. Her presentation, “Co-Dependence: Symptom or Root,” seeks to unravel the myth and meaning of co-dependency; define what it is and how it inhibits intimate relationships; and explain the importance of internal and external boundaries in protecting and empowering people.

“Understanding the role co-dependence can have in a relationship is a crucial part of treatment,” Ogle explains. “Without this knowledge, important barriers to recovery can be missed.”

Following Ogle with a presentation titled “Understanding and Navigating Young Adulthood” is Dr. Romeyn, who has over a decade of expertise in education and who specializes in treating those with special needs. Dr. Romeyn’s presentation will look at heightened risks for young adults, treatment resources, and whether the issue facing some young people is “failure to launch” or emerging adulthood.

The event begins with lunch and ends with a raffle. To register or learn more about other CEU events, visit the Elements Behavioral Health events page or contact Jeanette Lisalda at (866) 825-1104 or jlisalda@theelements.com.
