Promises Treatment Centers Sponsors a Workshop in Madrid Featuring Renowned Sex Addiction Expert Robert Weiss

On Nov. 13, Robert Weiss, renowned psychotherapist and founder of the Sexual Recovery Institute in Los Angeles, will discuss sex, tech and addiction at a one-day workshop on addictive disorders at the AC Hotel Cuzco in Madrid.

Madrid (PRWEB) Oct. 14, 2014 – Robert Weiss, LCSW, CSAT-S, founding director of the Sexual Recovery Institute and senior vice president of clinical development for Elements Behavioral Health, will conduct a multi-media presentation on the relationship between digital technology and sexual addiction on Nov. 13 at the AC Hotel Cuzco, in Madrid. Sponsored by Promises Treatment Centers, the event also features distinguished addiction and mental health experts Mark Burdick, Jose Luis Martinez and Dr. José Miguel Gaona Cartolano.

About the Speakers

Robert Weiss founded the Sexual Recovery Institute in Los Angeles in 1995 and is now senior vice president of clinical development for Elements Behavioral Health. Weiss is author of Cruise Control and Sex Addiction 101, and co-author of both Untangling the Web and Closer Together, Further Apart. A sexual addiction media expert to CNN, The Oprah Winfrey Network, The New York Times, ESPN, The Today Show, and Time Magazine, among many others, Weiss has served as a clinical educator to the U.S. National Institutes of Health and the U.S. military as well as addiction and behavioral treatment centers throughout the U.S., Europe and Asia.

Mark Burdick is a licensed clinical psychologist, licensed educational psychologist and certified learning disability specialist, among others. He is chartered in the U.K. and certified with EuroPsy in Europe. He has headed a number of professional associations, including the Board of Behavioral Sciences for the state of California and the California Association of Licensed Educational Psychologists. He is founder of Burdick Psychological and Placement Services, which has provided individualized treatment and services to families, agencies and courts for more than 30 years.

Jose Luis Martinez is a coach, interventionist and family counselor. In 2012, he became the European and Latin connection in Spain for Intervention Specialists, as well as translator and support team for the Spanish-speaking families that the group serves. Jose has a degree in business administration and a master’s degree in marketing. He is training to be a primary interventionist, a position that does not yet exist in his home country of Spain.

Dr. José Miguel Gaona Cartolano holds a doctorate in psychiatry from Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) and a master’s degree in medical psychology. He has held teaching assignments in the department of psychiatry at UCM and in recent years has worked in the field of neurotheology, exploring mystical and spiritual phenomena from a neurological persepective. He is director of the Institute Neurosalus and is an adviser on psychotropic substances to the Congress of Deputies. He is director of the magazine “Educate” and has authored a number of books and other publications, including “On the Other Side of the Tunnel,” “The Syndrome of Eva,” Being a Teen Is Not Easy” and “Endorphins: Messengers of Pleasure.”
