On Sept. 11, Robert Weiss, LCSW, CSAT-S, renowned author, clinician and founder of the Sexual Recovery Institute, will present “Sex, Intimacy and Relationships in the Digital Age” to raise funds for the Mazzoni Center in Philadelphia.

Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) Aug. 27, 2014 – On Sept. 11, from 6-8 p.m., Robert Weiss, LCSW, CSAT-S, internationally acclaimed author, psychotherapist and founder of the Sexual Recovery Institute in Los Angeles, will present “Sex, Intimacy and Relationships in the Digital Age” at the Mazzoni Center, Philadelphia’s LGBT health care and wellness center. All funds generated by this event will be donated to the center.

The presentation will explore ways in which gay men can find meaningful connection in today’s world, where cut-throat behavior is rewarded and easy Internet hook-ups are a mouse-click away.

“The Internet has brought new complexity to an age-old problem,” Weiss says. “People have been trying to find love and meaningful connection and have been battling compulsive sexual behaviors since long before the Internet, but those issues have been compounded by 24-hour access to sexual material via computers, smartphones and other digital technologies. We’ll explore all of these developments.”

Weiss, author of Closer Together, Further Apart: The Effect of Technology and the Internet on Parenting, Work, and Relationships and Cruise Control: Understanding Sex Addiction in Gay Men, speaks from a wealth of clinical experience treating addiction, compulsive sexual behaviors and relationship problems. In addition to founding the Sexual Recovery Institute, the nation’s premier outpatient sex addiction program for men, Weiss has developed dedicated treatment programs across the U.S. for sex and intimacy issues, including the Center for Relationship and Sexual Recovery at The Ranch, which offers gender-separate treatment programs for sex and intimacy disorders in Nunnelly, Tennessee, and the Substance Abuse and Intimacy Disorders Program at Right Step Dallas/Fort Worth for women with substance abuse and relationship problems.
