An Inspirational 12 Days of Rehab

Addictions often intensify over the holiday season. Family conflicts surface. Loneliness and depression creep in. Stress builds. Yet even in the face of a clear drug or alcohol problem and increasingly troublesome consequences, many people resist getting help.

“I’ll just make it through the holidays and then deal with this,” they think. They don’t want to miss out on the festivities or ruin the fun by drawing attention to the problem.

But the reality is that the festivities associated with the holiday season may make it extraordinarily difficult to keep from spiraling out of control. The temptations are too great, and chances are you’ll wind up making yourself and others miserable by trying to “get by” for another month or two. Worse, as drug and alcohol problems intensify, you put yourself at risk for serious accidents, injuries, legal problems and other consequences that could be avoided by getting help as soon as you or a loved one recognizes a problem.

The fact is that, for some, drug rehab is the best and safest place to be during the holidays. Recognizing that this is a time when people want to be with those they love, some rehab facilities go to great lengths to make the holidays special. They may host special holiday celebrations and meals that families are invited to or schedule recreational and leisure activities. Most importantly, you’ll be addressing the problem, which is the best gift you can give anyone that cares about you. You’ll be safe, supported and well on your way to recovery by the New Year.

In the spirit of getting well over the holidays, we’ve created The 12 Days of Rehab. Enjoy, and may it inspire you to give yourself or someone you love the gift of recovery this holiday season.
