Addictions Expert Robert Weiss to Explore Technology’s Effect on Relationships at CAMFT Conference

On May 4, renowned author, addictions expert and founder of the Sexual Recovery Institute Robert Weiss, LCSW, CSAT-S, will deliver a major keynote speech on the intersection of technology and addiction to over 500 at the 50th anniversary conference of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT) in Indian Wells, Calif.

Indian Wells, CA (PRWEB) April 8, 2014 – On May 4, Robert Weiss, LCSW, CSAT-S, author, clinician, founder of the Sexual Recovery Institute, and Senior Vice President of Clinical Development for Elements Behavioral Health, will explore technology’s effect on sex, dating, relationships and addiction as a featured keynote speaker at the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapist’s conference in Indian Wells, Calif. This year’s conference, which celebrates CAMFT’s 50th anniversary, will be held from May 1 to 4 at the Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort & Spa.

Mr. Weiss’ two-hour multimedia presentation, titled “Closer Together, Further Apart: The Effect of Digital Technology on Sex, Dating and Relationships,” begins at 10:15 a.m. and will provide a fascinating look at the ways digital technology affects clinical practice and has changed the way people communicate, relate, work, parent and mate.

“While we cannot imagine life without the Internet, the benefits and costs of digital technology to relationships and mental health is an area that deserves our attention,” said Mr. Weiss. “Learning about how technological advances affect individuals, families and communities, in both positive and negative ways, as well as how emerging technologies are improving addiction treatment outcomes, will help clinicians more effectively address the modern-day challenges facing their patients.”

The presentation draws from the cutting-edge research showcased in Mr. Weiss’ book “Closer Together, Further Apart: The Effect of Technology and the Internet on Parenting, Work, and Relationships,” co-authored with Jennifer Schneider, MD, which explores the cultural shifts brought about by digital technology and how these new connections are changing us as individuals and as a society.

To register for the conference, visit the CAMFT website. To learn more about Mr. Weiss’ other speaking engagements, visit the Elements Behavioral Health events page or contact Jeanette Lisalda at (866) 825-1104 or jlisalda@theelements.com.
