Promises Treatment Centers welcomes Kambria Hittelman, Psy.D., as Clinical Director of Malibu Programs.
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) March 6, 2012 – Promises Treatment Centers extends a warm welcome to Kambria Hittelman, Psy.D., who joined the team as Clinical Director of Malibu Programs last December.
Dr. Hittelman is certified in crisis prevention intervention and dialectical behavior therapy, and has professional training related to multicultural issues in couple and family therapy, relapse prevention, domestic violence and substance abuse. Prior to joining Promises, Dr. Hittelman served as the clinical coordinator for Acute Psychiatric Units at Interfaith Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, where she also completed her doctoral internship and worked as an acute inpatient psychologist.
In her position as Clinical Director of Malibu Programs, Dr. Hittelman supervises clinicians and acts as a liaison with the residential and technical staff. In addition, she plays a critical role in developing and eventually directing a new transitional social rehabilitation program of Elements Behavioral Health designed to help clients with serious mental illnesses, such as mood disorders, personality disorders and co-occurring addictions, build the independent living skills they need to transition back into the community.
“The highlight of my job is continually seeking out the best ways to meet clients’ needs so that others can see the potential for their own lives,” said Dr. Hittelman, who herself grew up in an alcoholic home and witnessed the blessing of recovery in her family. “In this new role, I have the opportunity to not only fine-tune existing services but also develop a new program that will reach even more people in need of addiction and mental health treatment.”
Dr. Hittelman was attracted to Promises because of the program’s focus on individualized, comprehensive addiction and dual diagnosis treatment that incorporates family therapy, trauma recovery, and alternative therapies such as acupuncture and massage into each client’s treatment plan. Working alongside a multidisciplinary team of professionals, she said she learns something new every day.
