Promises Addiction Treatment Center in Los Angeles Promotes Betsy Spier, MFT, as Executive Director

Los Angeles, CA, September 1, 2011 – Promises Treatment Centers recognizes and rewards the talent of its staff. That’s why Betsy Spier, MFT, who started with Promises West L.A. in 2010 as a family therapist, quickly became Director of Outpatient Services and now serves as the program’s Executive Director.

Betsy Spier is a licensed marriage and family therapist who specializes in couples counseling and addiction and co-occurring disorders. She helped open one of the first dual diagnosis programs in South Central L.A. in the mid-1990s and has more than 20 years of experience in addiction and mental health treatment. A graduate of Antioch University, Betsy not only works as a clinician and administrator but also teaches at the Drug and Alcohol Studies Department of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

As far back as 1993, when Spier met Richard Rogg, founder of Promises Treatment Centers, she knew this was a place she wanted to work. The program’s longevity, outstanding reputation and focus on personalized client care were the attributes that first attracted Spier.

“I’ve loved working at Promises since the day I walked onsite,” said Spier. “All of the staff is here for the same reason – to help clients find the best in themselves – and you can feel that from the moment you walk up the driveway.”

Promises Treatment Center in West Los Angeles offers world-class treatment for addiction and co-occurring disorders in a comfortable, highly desirable location. Its unique 90-day treatment program includes a 30-day residential treatment phase followed by 15 days of day-patient and 45 days of intensive outpatient services (IOP). Clients live in supervised sober living while completing day-patient and IOP services. In her role as Executive Director, Spier oversees the day-to-day operations of the program.

“Betsy has demonstrated her passion for working with clients with drug dependencies and other emotional disorders and has proven her commitment to clinical excellence as our Director of Outpatient Services,” said Dr. David Sack, CEO of Promises Treatment Centers. “We are confident that Promises West L.A. will continue to exceed our clients’ expectations by offering the most sophisticated treatment available under Betsy’s leadership.”
